El día del niño – Volunteers Needed!

Diversity in Action Poster 2015The Arlington Public Library and the UTA Department of Modern Languages is organizing the following event and needs volunteers to help:

Event:  El día del niño ~
The Day of the Child
Date:    Saturday, May 2nd, 2-4 p.m.
Place:  MAC Center (Soccer Gym)

Volunteers are needed for:
*Bilingual storytime in any language
*Sports Exhibitions
*Collecting books in English & other languages (so that each child who attends can receive a book)
*Setting up and Closing Down
*Helping out with various activities:  chalk drawings, painting, crafts, hula hoop, bubbles, castle-building, bounce house, etc.  (more ideas are most welcome!)
*Setting tables & serving food
*Parking supervision

 

 

ABOUT  EL  DÍA  DEL  NIÑO:

El día del niño is a family event created to celebrate childhood and literacy.

It is a multi-cultural celebration of children, families and reading that culminates every year on April 30th.

The celebration emphasizes the importance of advocating literacy for children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

Hundreds of libraries, schools and communities throughout the country will host celebrations and programs that honor multiculturalism and stress the importance of literacy.

The event will include a variety of nationalities and languages.
